Hello, I'm Maya!
My small business, Yarn and Sew, sprang to life almost by accident, during procrastination from dissertation writing. I found myself on YouTube learning ‘How to crochet a hat for my cat’. Naturally, I quickly became OBSESSED and expanded my skills in knitting and sewing. My favourite type of crochet is freeform- so enjoy an attempt of a self-portrait using scrap yarn!
Dealing with mental health challenges has been a lifelong journey for me. Crochet became an unexpected yet powerful therapeutic tool to get out of my head. It ignited a passion in me to share the joy and solace I found through 'mindful crafting'. My sentiment has been that I want to create safe and enjoyable spaces for different backgrounds and communities.
